YOU MAY HAVE EXCELLENT CLINICAL ABILITIES, IMPECCABLE RESEARCH
CREDENTIALS AND A SPARKLING BEDSIDE MANNER. THOSE ATTRIBUTES MIGHT
NOT MATTER, HOWEVER, IF THEY DO NOT SHINE THROUGH IN YOUR CV.
Keys to a CV That Sings

EARCH CONSULTANTS FOR Enterprise Medical
Services, a Chesterfield, Missouri-based
physician, executive and advanced practice
provider recruitment fi rm, provide some off-
the-radar tips — as well as some that are familiar but
oft-forgotten — for fashioning a CV with impact.
Here are a few of their recommendations, compiled
on the company's website, enterprisemed.com:
+ Focus on spelling and grammar. Is it persnickety
of an employer to dismiss a CV after spotting a
creatively spelled word or an instance of wayward
punctuation? Maybe, maybe not. But it happens.
+ Accentuate the positive. Any board certifi cations
as well as state licensures should appear prominently.
+ Highlight ties that bind. If you intend to move
a considerable distance, point out any family or
other ties you may have to the area where you
are seeking employment. That will make you
more attractive as a candidate.
+ Fi l l i n t he g ap s. D on't leave employers
wondering about periods of time that are not
accounted for in your CV. If you have a gap in
employment — when you were volunteering,
for example — explain it.
+ Imagine you are the employer. Now imagine
how a clear, easily navigated CV would look to
you — and make it happen. ■
