The Medicare- and Medicaid-certified nursing home scored highly in the direct care deficiency survey's health results, staffing levels and quality measures. The state's high scoring of the 82-bed skilled nursing facility, with 115 clinical and administrative staff, fol - lowed a recertification inspection conducted from Aug. 17 to Aug. 20. A team from the health department's Division of Quality and Surveillance for Nursing Homes conducted the inspection. The team was composed of trained health - care professionals in nursing, nutrition, social work, pharmacy and sanitation. All nursing homes in the state are inspected every nine to 15 months. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has announced that Crystal Run Healthcare has again achieved Level 2 accreditation as an Accountable Care Organization (ACO). In 2012, Crystal Run Healthcare was the first ACO to earn accredi - tation in New York state and was among the first four ACOs to be accredited on a national level. The length of accreditation standing is three years. The most recent recognition is both the result of Crystal Run Healthcare's leadership in healthcare transformation and reform, as well as the practice's commitment to medical excellence. Crystal Run Healthcare has been a leader in value-based care for the past 10 years, being one of the first 27 ACOs to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program. Led by Drs. Nicholas and Lisa Batson of the Psychiatry Division and with 30 walkers, Crystal Run Healthcare was well represented at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Sept. 20. Crystal Run Healthcare was the top fundraiser and was chosen to lead the walk, which took place at the Heritage Trail in Monroe, New York. Prior to the event, Crystal Run held a practice-wide dress down day and bake sale, at which employees personally do - nated money to help raise funds and aware- ness for suicide prevention. In total, $5,169 was raised and donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The AFSP leads the fight against suicide and is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives to reduce the loss of life from suicide.
