CentraState Briefs HBO ACCREDITATION ACHIEVED The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Program at The Central Jersey Wound Treatment Center at CentraState recently received Hyperbaric Facility Accreditation by The Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). This accreditation recognizes CentraState for meeting or exceeding highest industry standards and best practices in hyperbaric treatment. The HBO program at the Central Jersey Wound Treatment Center at CentraState is the first in the area to successfully complete the UHMS' rigorous accreditation process. UHMS sent a team of experts to examine the hyperbaric program's staffing and training, equipment installation, operation, and maintenance, facility and patient safety, and standards of care, finding that the Center was eligible for accreditation. WOMEN'S HEALTH CENTER DESIGNATED A PINK RIBBON FACILITY The Women's Health Center at CentraState was recently designated a certified Pink Ribbon Facility by Hologicâ„¢, the makers of Seleniaâ„¢ digital mammography. Pink Ribbon designation is a distinction awarded only to an elite group of health care facilities that offer the latest, state-of-the-art digital technology for breast cancer detection. Digital mammography differs from conventional mammography in that radiologists can magnify images and increase or decrease the contrast while reading images to evaluate microcalcifications and focus on areas of concern. The Women's Health Center was recognized for providing excellence in breast health paired with offering patient conveniences and support to the women of their community. PROCURE PROTON THERAPY CENTER OPENS The new ProCure Proton Therapy Center in Somerset opened its doors on March 20. The opening of the center marks the culmination of a nearly two-year collaboration between ProCure Treatment Centers, Princeton Radiation Oncology, and CentraState. The 60,000-square-foot center houses four treatment rooms and will be able to serve around 1,500 patients per year. Patients will receive proton treatment for various types of cancerous tumors, including brain, central nervous system, gastrointestinal, head and neck, and prostate, as well as sarcomas and many pediatric cancers. The grand opening of the ProCure Proton Therapy Center attracted roughly 200 attendees, including ProCure and CentraState staff, as well as members of the community. Speakers at the event included ProCure Proton Therapy Center President James Jarrett and Brian Chon, MD, board-certified radiation oncologist with Princeton Radiation Oncology, medical director of the ProCure Proton Therapy Center and on staff at CentraState.
