HERE WAS A time, not so very long ago, when, to many people, the concept of "medical imaging management" brought to mind the idea of dedicated film libraries composed of row after row of color-coded patient jackets filled with physical, black- and-white films. But the reality is that from practically the very first moment, in 1895, that Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen astonished the general public and electri- fied the medical community with an "X-Ray" photograph of the bones in his wife's hand, there has been a dynamic working collaboration between scientists and medical professionals to use the various invisible forces of nature, such as radiation, magnetic fields and ultrasonic sound waves, to create images that would reveal the sources of the maladies or disorders hidden inside a patient's body and to make those images available to the physician who would treat them.
