New Family Medicine Physician Joins HRMC Medical Staff [PHOTO] Jennifer Nelson, DO Jennifer Nelson, DO, a board- certified family medicine physician with the Huron Clinic, has joined the Huron Regional Medical Center medical staff. She provides primary care to patients from pediatrics through geriatric care at the Huron Clinic and also has privileges to see inpatients at the hospital. Dr. Nelson, originally from the Winner, S.D. area, earned a bachelor of arts in biology from Dakota Wesleyan University, and her doctor of osteopathy from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at the Sioux Falls Family Medicine Residency program. Dr. Nelson practiced medicine in rural Minnesota and rural areas of South Dakota before joining the Huron Clinic and HRMC medical staffs. She has been active in medical missionary work and has traveled to Haiti and Africa. Her personal interests include biking, photography, music, golf and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Nelson has a special interest in preventive medicine and pediatrics. She enjoys taking care of the "whole family" and is now accepting new patients at Huron Clinic. Care When You Need It Most [PHOTO] Kasey Hanson, CNP Huron Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the addition of Kasey Hanson, certified nurse practitioner (CNP), to the hospital's emergency room (ER) staff. Hanson, who began her duties on Feb. 10, works in cooperation with William Miner, MD, medical director of the ER at HRMC, and additional ER staff to assess and treat patients. Before joining HRMC, Hanson provided primary care and 24-hour emergency services at Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, S.D. Hanson began her career as a registered nurse working in obstetrics, emergency services and the special care unit at St. Mary's Healthcare Center in Pierre, S.D., before becoming a certified family nurse practitioner in 2000. She earned an associate degree in nursing from the University of South Dakota and a bachelor of science in nursing from South Dakota State University (SDSU). Hanson has 12 years of experience as a certified family nurse practitioner, earning her degree from SDSU. She is also certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and trained in advanced trauma life support (ATLS). She and her husband, Bryan, live on a ranch near Burke. They have three daughters and one son – Schae, 17; Ramee, 9; Piper, 6; and Finn, 10. In her spare time, Hanson enjoys running, quilting and managing KC Coffee Haus, the coffee shop she owns in Burke.
