The Skin Care Formula Your skin is your body's largest organ, and the first step to taking care of it is knowing your skin type. Learn your formula to choose the right skin products: NORMAL • normal pore appearance • not dry or shiny • rare breakouts • supple to the touch DRY • skin flakes away • tight to the touch • worsened by wind or heat OILY • shiny in appearance • thick to the touch • larger pores • frequent breakouts COMBINATION • oily "T-zone"—the forehead, nose and chin • normal or dry skin on cheeks SENSITIVE • affected by wind, sun or temperature • frequent breakouts or redness • sensitivity to cosmetic products Now that you know your skin type, creating your perfect product is the next step. If your skin is… NORMAL…Most products work with your skin type, but select products that are mild and not greasy. DRY…Avoid cleansers that don't moisturize or are alcohol-based. A deeply moisturizing lotion, applied after cleansing, is your best bet against dry skin. OILY…Choose products with oil-free ingredients, and use a toning agent after cleansing. Occasional facial masks may also be beneficial. COMBINATION…For the "T-zone," use oil-free cleansers, and moisturize skin that tends to be dry more often. SENSITIVE…Look for products labeled "hypoallergenic," and avoid skin masks and peels. The Perfect Product for Any Skin Type No matter what kind of skin you have, sunscreen is the ideal product for protecting yourself against UVA and UVB rays that can cause cancer, wrinkles and age spots. Wear makeup and moisturizing products that contain SPF for extra protection, but always apply a sunscreen with at least SPF 15 as well. ................................................ Made in the Shade Finding the right color palette of makeup for your skin tone can be tricky. With so many colors of foundation, concealer and blush on the market, how can you tell what works? Start with these dos and don'ts for finding your ideal makeup shades.
