KENNETH P. TREVETT RE…ELECTED BIOMED SA CHAIR FOR 2016; WALTERŒD. DOWNING OF SOUTHWEST RESEARCH INSTITUTE NEWLY ELECTED VICE CHAIR As it begins its second decade in opera- tion, BioMed SA, the nonprofit organiza- tion charged with promoting San Antonio's healthcare and bioscience industry, recently announced its newly elected officers and board of directors for 2016. All terms are for one year. Re-elected as Chair of the organiza - tion is Kenneth P. Trevett, JD, who also serves as Executive Director of the Vaccine Development Center of San Antonio. Trevett joined the BioMed SA board in 2008 and succeeded former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros as Chair in 2011. Newly elected Vice Chair is Walter¦D. Downing¦Jr., PE, Executive Vice President of Southwest Research Institute, one of the world's premier ap - plied research and development organiza- tions and the eighth largest employer in San Antonio. Downing joined the BioMed SA board in 2012 and chaired the Bylaws Review Committee in 2015. Returning as Secretar y/ Treasurer is Richard Perez, President and CEO of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber launched BioMed SA in 2005, and Perez joined the board in 2008 shor t - ly after being named Chamber president. Ann Stevens continues in her executive role as President of BioMed SA. Donna Miller ser ves as Director of Membership and Administrative Ser vices. Newly elected board members for 2016 are Delbert Chumley, MD, Partner, Gastroenterology Consultants of San Antonio; Fred Hines, President and CEO, Clarity Child Guidance Center; Pamela Parish, President, San Antonio Region, Broadway Bank; and Ann Salamone, President, Rochal Industries LLC. CHRISTUS SANTA ROSA HOSPITAL ' MEDICAL CENTER WELCOMES NEW ASSOCIATE CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Medical Center is pleased to announce the addition of Ian Thompson III, MD, as its Associate Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Thompson comes from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Department of Urology, where he has had a distinguished young career in both clinical care and research. Dr. Thompson has also demonstrated his medical staff leadership by chairing the Utilization Review Committee at Medical Center and will be expanding that leadership responsi - bility in his new role. "I will make sure we continue to de- liver good, compassionate, quality care at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Medical Center," Dr. Thompson says. "I will be working with our Associates, nurses and physicians in the operating rooms and on the floors throughout the hospital to help identify ways we can seek to better serve our patients."
