Summer Sun Safety Protecting your skin should be your first priority whether you're working in the garden or enjoying a weekend on the lake. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Before heading outdoors this summer, remember your ABCs:
Apply sunscreen with a sun protection factor of 15 or higher.
Be fashionable and safe by wearing a wide-brimmed hat to protect your face, neck and ears.
Cover up and stay cool and protected in light-weight clothing.
Don't stay outside for extended periods of time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. when the sun's rays are the most intense.
