Ahn, MD, otolaryngologist at Frankfort Regional Medical Center Meet Dr. Ahn 2 Medical school and residency hospital: University of Kentucky (medical school), Medical University of South Carolina (general surgery internship and otolaryngology residency) I became a doctor because: It's something I've always wanted to do. My fifth-grade journal listed my ideal job as "doctor." It may sound clichéd, but I really enjoy helping people. I specialized in otolaryngology because: I enjoy solving problems. Most of my patients' issues can be corrected surgically or with medicine, and they see improvements quickly. The anatomy in the head and neck region is fascinating. My favorite thing about working at Frankfort Regional is: We're all on the same page, and patient care comes first. In my spare time: I enjoy playing golf, coaching youth baseball, spending time with my family and being an active member of my church. Dear Friends, At Frankfort Regional Medical Center, our commitment to providing high-quality local care as well as contributing to the local economy can be witnessed in the positive impacts we've had on our community. Frankfort Regional Medical Center is now a fully-accredited Chest Pain Center, meaning that we have met stringent national guidelines for providing the highest level of cardiac care for patients. Becoming accredited took nearly a year and an entire team to achieve. What this means for patients is that they can receive the highest level of cardiac care here at home and that the flow of patients is quick and efficient, which helps save lives. Read more on page 3. Our nurses also recently received an award for their dedication to patient safety. You can read about this award on page 7. Also in this issue, we discuss ways we are improving communication with patients and between patients and their families.
