Leaving a Lasting Legacy 2016 Satisfaction Survey Human Resources Director Judy Crews retires after 32 solid years dedicating her time and service to CHIFriendship and its team of employees. "I started here as a part-time typist, and my role eventually blossomed into the Human Resources department, rst as a coordinator and the last 22 years as the director," Crews said. "I've worn many hats over the years, from overseeing the benets program and coordinating the worker's compensation program to coaching team members. The majority of my decisions revolve around helping everyone connect to the bigger picture—why we are here and what we can do every day to make a dierence in the lives of the people we support." Crews nds the greatest communication tools revolve around common sense and treating people with respect. "It's simple, really—be honest, be sincere, and make decisions that you feel condent your mother or grandmother would approve of, even if these choices were to be printed in the paper or broadcast to the entire community," Crews said. "Own your decisions and then you can be proud of who you are and what you accomplish." Crews' leadership extends beyond her own department, including time spent as secretary on the Board of Directors for Villa Nazareth. "These past 32 years have been paramount in my life, and I've really gained a sense of purpose nding creative ways to manage people and nd solutions," Crews said. "I will greatly miss working with my friends, the coworkers, parents and guardians, and the people we support—they've all become such a lifeline for me." Crews plans to spend her time sleeping in, scrapbooking, researching her genealogy, traveling with her three sisters—also retirees—and volunteering for CHI Friendship's golf tournament and Oktoberfest fundraising events. This is an annual survey completed by parents, guardians, and the people we support. Listed below are some of the highlights of the analyzed results: THINGS TO CELEBRATE: Overall score is 3.94. 172 responses were received. 11 departments scored 4.00 (very good) or higher.
