Dea Friend, Access to specialists is a priority at CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System. From heart care affiliated with Cleveland Clinic Heart & Vascular Institute* to comprehensive care at the W. Temple Webber Cancer Center, patients do not have to travel for the care they need. (Please see a cancer treatment success story on page 8.) To ensure our inpatients receive timely specialized care, we provide a Hospitalist Program. Hospitalists — physicians who specialize in hospital-based care — work closely with each patient's primary care physician, medical specialists, surgeons, nurses and other staff to coordinate care and keep families informed. Since they are immediately available and this vital contribution is their primary focus, hospitalists can offer a very high level of clinical care. As we approach a century of caring, mark your calendars for Sept. 14, 2016 — the 100th anniversary of the day we first began "extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ" for residents of Texarkana and the surrounding region. Additional details about various events and activities will be shared in the near future. When you are 100 years old, you have a lot of memories to share. Those experiences come from people who have been part of your legacy. We invite you to submit your story and/or historical photos related to St. Michael.
