Lexington, KY 40511 Dear One Health readers, Partnerships have always been an important characteristic of the health care delivery system. As our relationship with patients changes from one of episodic care to a long term relationship, partnerships are essential to KentuckyOne Health's capacity to deliver the right kind of care, at the right time and in the right place. Maintaining wellness is something we have always understood to be important, but the effectiveness of preventive and wellness focused care can be enhanced even more with the right community partners with whom we share our resources. While many of our partners include community groups and organizations, some of our most effective partners are individual community members who support the work of KentuckyOne Health's Foundations. They support our initiatives because they believe in our work and want to help make a difference. The "difference" we seek is a healthier Kentucky. We are not satisfi ed that Kentucky ranks 44th among the 50 states in overall health. Treatment is always available, but preventing future illness is even more important if we are to improve the overall quality of life for Kentuckians and the citizens of southern Indiana. In this issue of One Health, you will read about the wonderful work being done by our physician partners and foundations to advance the effectiveness of our clinical care and reach more members of our communities with a message of wellness and hope. I hope these stories will inspire you to see yourself as a partner in this care as well. Together, we can continue to be the change we seek.
