Lower Hudson/Bronx 05-841 PUBLISHER from the Greetings, and welcome to the May issue of MD News Lower Hudson/Bronx. On t he cover t his mont h, we spot lig ht NewYork- Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital for insight into the evolution of treatment of urologic cancers. Advancements in screening methods, treatments and techniques provide many new options for patients. Experts from the program at NYP/Lawrence describe their approach to these diseases as holistic and comprehensive. The program is designed to meet the needs of patients whose cases fall at any point along the spectrum — from those who need active surveillance to those who require innovative interventions, including the use of state-of-the-art robotic systems. The combination of community outreach, risk reduction, education and collaboration with primary care providers is essential to the team's mission of wraparound service and treatment. The devastation of a cancer diagnosis is compounded for women whose course of treatment causes infertility. Our clinical feature examines findings that cryopreservation of ovarian tissue for transplant following treatment can safely and e ectively maintain fertility. Also in our special clinical section on women's health, we report on a study that found significant risks in halting hormone replacement therapy.
