LUH IS THE NEWEST hospital within Centura Health to join the MDLIVE database, meaning you can easily have a telemedicine appointment with a physician—maybe even your own primary care physician—from anywhere with telephone or internet access. If you're sick or injured and need medical attention, but can't make it to a doctor's office, you can simply visit mdlive.com and get the medical help you need from a physician. "We chose to join the MDLIVE program because it aligned well with our mission and the goals we wished to achieve," says Samantha Lippolis, Telehealth Director at Centura Health. "It's a key initiative for us to ensure we are offering our patients the types of experiences that are important to them." HOW IT WORKS • Sign up—Create an MDLIVE account to get started. During this five- to 10-minute process, you'll answer basic questions that include your pharmacy of choice and whether or not you're taking any medications. • Pick your device—You can access MDLIVE anytime through the telephone or the internet. If you have a phone, smartphone, tablet or computer, you can speak with a physician via either a secure video or phone connection. • Choose your physician—Hundreds of physicians from Colorado and around the country are online and available for an MDLIVE consultation throughout the day, and your primary physician at LUH may be participating. All MDLIVE doctors are licensed in the state where you live. • Start an appointment—Appointments will start three to 10 minutes after you've made your selection. Each appointment lasts around five minutes and costs $49 or less, depending on your insurance. • Get better—MDLIVE gives you the chance to get an expert's opinion wherever you are. Use this information to start feeling better, and if you need a prescription, it will be sent to your pharmacy of choice. "We always recommend that patients follow up and establish a face-to-face relationship with a primary care provider," Samantha says. "This system isn't in any way intended to go around primary care, but simply to give patients the convenience they want." Of course, if you're experiencing a medical emergency, you should always call 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department for immediate, in-person care. › Convenient care is just moments away. Visit mdlive.com to learn more or sign up. Longmont United Hospital and Centura Health are collaborating with MDLIVE to bring healthcare to patients anywhere in the Colorado area—and the country.
