CentraState Briefs CentraState Receives Award from National Kidney Foundation The Novo Nordisk Diabetes Center at CentraState Medical Center recently received the Community Partner of the Year Award from the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Serving Greater New York. The designation recognizes CentraState for its service and contributions to the success of the Foundation’s Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP) and prevention efforts. The NKF Serving Greater New York is a division of the National Kidney Foundation that depends on partnerships with community and corporate organizations to achieve its mission of preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation. The Novo Nordisk Diabetes Center at CentraState has helped the NKF to reach the public with messages of prevention and create programs that improve the lives of individuals and families affected by kidney and urologic diseases. Surgery Center to Open SurgiCare of Freehold, LLC, located in the Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus on the grounds of CentraState, is expected to open later this summer. The 12,000-square-foot surgery center will be staffed by more than 35 physicians performing orthopedic, pain, plastic surgery and other procedures in four operating rooms Nursing excellence awards CentraState has awarded seven nurses with its highest honor that an RN or LPN can receive—the Nursing Excellence Award. The 2012 award winners are (left to right): Ilisa Diamond, BSN, RN, Long-Term Care Services Award; Lisa Chesney, RNC, Mental Health Services Award; Diane Yacono, MSN, ANP-BC, CWS, Advanced Practice Nurse Services Award; Maria Diaz, RN-BC, Perioperative Services Award; Deborah Foley, MSN, RN, Critical Care/Emergency Services Award; Gabrielle Hallbauer, BSN, RNC, Maternal/Child Health Services Award; and Lisa Genovese, BSN, RN-BC, CBN, Medical Surgical Services Award. The nurses are recognized for their teamwork, initiative, service excellence, and professionalism; participation in unit activities; involvement in research, publications, and formal lectures; certifications and education; and promoting CentraState in the community.
