On October 8, the SD Women's Expo will help inspire women to focus on health, while also having fun and relaxing. Women are invited to take a healthy stroll through the Arts and Education building, where Huron Regional Medical Center and other health vendors will present information to help women take care of their own and their family's health. Free health screenings will also be available. This year, three health information presentations will be featured – one in the morning and two in the afternoon. Fun and Games In addition to health talks and information, the Expo will feature several entertainment options: • Looney Lutherans. This comedy trio is currently on tour promoting their new cookbook, Use Your Food: A Guide to Healthy Living Inside and Out, From Our Kitchen to Yours, Eat Like a Lutheran!. Originally cast members of "Church Basement Ladies," this group has performed since 2006 on a variety of topics, including healthy living and the Lutheran food rap. You don't have to be Lutheran to love them! • The "Not-So" Newlywed Game. A spin on the classic game show, this event will feature face-offs between couples who have been married for at least 25 years. A point system will determine the winners, from first through third place, and each couple who participates will win a prize. • Cooking with Courtney. Courtney Collen, news anchor from KSFY, will host a cooking demonstration for attendees. Courtney's specialty is presenting healthy, delicious recipes in an entertaining way. This year's Expo will also feature the SHE Awards. Three awards, the Community Service and Humanitarian award, Tomorrow's Leader, and Refugee and Immigrant Woman of Excellence award, will be given based on community nominations. General admission tickets are $10 and include admission to the Expo event, keynote presentations, lunch, SHE Awards and unlimited access to vendor displays. VIP Silver tickets are $20, and include general admission benefits as well as express event registration, a special gift at participating VIP Pampering vendors, VIP lunch service and seating, and a chance to win a giveaway.
