Through the HRMC Foundation, Huron Regional Medical Center brings improved care, facilities and programs to patients in the community. Team check-in starts at 9 a.m. and play begins at 10 a.m. on the Broadland Creek National Golf Course. This year's event will be a four-person scramble with a wide variety of pin prizes. "This is an event we look forward to," says Paul Rann, executive director of the HRMC Foundation. "It's a fun and relaxing way for donors to help us better care for our community." For more information about the Humanitarian Golf Tournament, visit www.huronregional.org/foundation and click on "Events" or call (605) 353-6315. Traditionally, when a donor makes an endowment to the HRMC Foundation, the monies are restricted. The gifts support a donor-specified hospital department, with little to no room for deviation. The Fund for the Future, a new endowment fund established by the HRMC Foundation, was designed to be semi-restricted. This allows the funds to fulfill a list of various priorities. Donors know how their contributions will be used, but this arrangement allows adjustments to be made based on the community's evolving needs. Currently, the hospital's four most important needs are: 1. Proactive workforce development – Providing scholarships that ensure the brightest local students become the next generation of nurses, therapists and technicians at Huron Regional Medical Center. 2. Facility upgrades – Developing the future of high- quality health facility improvements. 3. Advanced technology – Attaining the latest equipment throughout the HRMC system. 4. Cooperation with other independent hospitals – Developing strategies to leverage the Northern Plains Health Network for meaningful results. Once the first initiative is met, the money will roll over to the next need. This allows donors to have the greatest impact on immediate needs. "Health care is continually changing," says Paul Rann, executive director of the HRMC Foundation. "Fund for the Future allows us to adapt to these changes and ensure donor contributions are impactful while giving donors peace of mind." For more information about Fund for the Future or to make a donation, visit www.huronregional.org/ foundation or call (605) 353-6315.
