Many great things are happening at our Hospital. I'm especially
excited that we are about to begin excavation for our new outpatient
facility, the Center for Community Health. Our new building has
been designed to house state-of-the-art equipment and to support our
superb medical staff. But, most importantly, it has been planned to
enhance the patient experience.
Advances in technology and changes in healthcare delivery are shifting
more and more procedures to an outpatient setting. We will consolidate
our outpatient services while, at the same time, gain the flexibility needed
to reconfigure inpatient services in our existing buildings. The Center for
Community Health will enable New York Methodist Hospital to continue
providing the highest quality medical care consistent with state-of-the-art
healthcare standards.
Construction of our new building is expected to take three years; I
hope you will join me in looking ahead to an expanded NYM that will
be even more prepared to offer Brooklynites the health care they need
and deserve.
In the meantime, we look forward to continuing to provide our
community with health information that may help keep you from
needing our services. I hope that you learn something new and useful in
the following pages and that you enjoy this issue of Thrive.
