Tawana Townsend, 34, of Huntsville, believes giving back to her community should be a year-round endeavor. A Redstone member since 2004, Tawana takes time to reflect on her year. Member's Moment Q. This is a time of the year when many of us think of helping others or giving back to our community. In what ways do you 'give back' to your community? A. I am the fundraising co-chair for the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Huntsville Branch, where we promote research, education, advocacy and philanthropy for women and girls through programs such as our Tech Trek STEM camp for 8th grade girls. I also serve on a team through my church that offers Bible study and a warm meal to the city's homeless community on Wednesdays at First Stop. I enjoy volunteering during local events and supporting various organizations, such as Arts Huntsville, Suits for Scholars, R. Fathers M.A.D, e Tennessee Valley Jazz Society and Land Trust of North Alabama. Q. Are you more active in your commu- nity during the holidays or throughout the—year? A. I prefer to be active all year round, especially during the warmer months. Q. What is your favorite holiday tradition? A. Does eating count, LOL? My favorite tradition is popping popcorn, making hot chocolate and watching old Christmas movies with my family. Q. During the holidays would your family most likely find you: in the kitchen, in the mall or in the airport? A. In the airport! Q. Did you reach your 2016 goals? A. My 2016 goals were to live more simply, rest when necessary and allow God to order my steps. I'm still working on them, but I've definitely seen progress. If you would like to appear in the Member's Moment column, just send your name and an interesting tidbit about yourself to aspire@redfcu.org Coming this December…write a letter to Santa and drop it off at Santa's mailbox inside any Redstone Federal Credit Union branch. Each letter sent through the branch mailboxes or emailed to Redstone's special North Pole address will also make Christmas special for a foster child. Redstone will make a donation to Kids to Love Foundation for every letter mailed to Santa. Kids to Love, which began in 2004, helps find permanent homes for foster children. It also meets their immediate needs and equips them for life after foster care. Watch for more details at redfcu.org or in our branches. Santa's New Helper Santa's New Helper redfcu.org | 15
