CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Center is unlike any hospital emergency department or urgent care center in the area. Located on Viking Drive, this innovative center will combine an emergency department with six inpatient, short-stay beds, a departure from the traditional hospital model. The facility will provide 24/7 access to board-certified emergency physicians and accommodate patients with emergent illnesses, including heart attack, stroke and minor trauma, as well as acute abdominal pain, bladder infections, chest pain, dehydration, pneumonia, seizures, lacerations, and sprains and broken bones. The short-stay inpatient beds provide brief hospitalization for patients who require further monitoring, treatment, diagnostic testing, antibiotic therapy or postoperative care and can be discharged as soon as clinical conditions are resolved. Patients may be admitted through the emergency room or directly from the physician's o–ce. The location will also o—er outpatient lab services and radiology testing, such as X-ray, MRI, CT, 3D digital mammography and ultrasound. "CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Center is the first and only of its kind in the region, and we are excited and honored to bring this innovative model of care to the area," says Isaac Palmer, CHRISTUS Health Shreveport- Bossier chief executive o–cer. "CHRISTUS is responding to the Bossier medical community and residents' need for more access to high-quality, low-cost health care while continuing our mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ." christushealthsb.org | Fall 2016 WELCOME 2
