Lower Hudson/Bronx 05-841 PUBLISHER from the Greetings, physicians and other healthcare leaders, and welcome to the November issue of MD News Lower Hudson/Bronx. It's exciting for us to talk with clinicians and researchers who are at the leading edge of their field, and that feeling is patently manifested in this issue. Lung cancer is among the most challenging diagnoses in medicine. Our cover feature highlights the comprehensive program put in place by NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville and Columbia University to meet that challenge head-on. A multidisciplinary team provides a level of care that ordinarily would be found only at large academic centers. The expert providers at NYP/ Lawrence Hospital detail their achievement in bringing this advanced care to our area. For our special clinical section about gastroenterology, we interviewed researchers from California and Australia about prospects for leveraging spider venom in the e ort to relieve pain associated with irritable bowel syndrome. In addition, we review the success of an initiative to increase screening and treatment for hepatitis C among American Indians, and we round up related news items. In our People in the News and Local News sections, we fill you in on important events in health care in our area, as well as the individuals involved. MD News' print and digital formats focus on issues per- tinent on a local level and serve as valuable referral sources throughout the region. Contact me at 914-967-6565 or dansenkiw@mdnews.com to share your views on topics covered or publicize upcoming events or news with clinicians here in the Hudson Valley region.
