It is my pleasure
to share with you
what will be an
ongoing introduction to the medical
staff, services and offerings of UMC
Health System. In partnership with
the providers of Texas Tech, UMC
Physicians and the Lubbock community,
we are grateful for your support and
trust as we care for your patients.
Our goal is to serve in partnership
with you as well.
What sets UMC apart? I have been
chief medical officer for six years.
I joined the team for one primary reason:
Although UMC is many things — a
county hospital, an academic medical
center and a LevelI Trauma Center — it
has grown and emerged as a
provider and employer of choice
for our region. I joined UMC
because the culture is strong
— it demonstrates that service
is our passion, and it can be seen
in the satisfaction of both patients and
staff. When a culture is strong, strategy
is easier to implement and results easier
to sustain. Having practiced at UMC for
several years, I saw firsthand the cultural
transformation achieved during the past
decade — and that is why I am here.
I hope you enjoy this first issue.
I welcome the opportunity, as does our
UMC leadership, to reflect in these
pages what is important to you.
