WellSpan Health has a comprehensive plan to help reduce readmis- sion rates in its hospital system. This plan includes a data-driven approach and utilizing risk-adjusted, observed- to-expected ratio methodology consistent with measures employed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and similar entities. The goal is to reduce the readmission observed-to-expected ratio to less than 1.0. You can read more about WellSpan's approach and success to date on Page 6. This issue also takes a closer look at WellSpan's sleep medicine program. With five sleep labs across the area and eight sleep pulmonologists, WellSpan is well equipped to diagnose and treat a range of sleep health issues. Other articles in this issue discuss WellSpan's recent cannabis clinical trial for patients with neurological disorders as well as bariatric surgery services, a new partnership with Johns Hopkins for pediatric general surgery and resources for patient advance care planning.
