The King's Daughters' Health School of Radiologic Technology celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2017. Our school was established in 1982 in an effort to reverse a shortage of radiologic technologists in our area. We recruited a number of talented, dedicated teachers to educate people in our area who wanted successful futures and were willing to work hard to achieve that dream. In January 2012, we furthered our commitment to creating jobs and supporting our community by partnering with Ivy Tech. The partnership, which has enabled the school to receive full accreditation from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology, means that each one of our students can graduate with an associate's degree. Over the course of 35 years, KDH's School of Radiologic Technology has educated 179 students, 98 percent of whom passed their national board exams on the first try – and KDH has reaped the benefits of their success. Of the 45 technologists on staff at KDH, 80 percent are graduates of our program. We're so proud of all these students and will remain committed to educating smart, capable radiologic technologists, whether they work locally or elsewhere, for another 35 years and beyond. Finally, I'd like to wish the best to Paul Cronen, MD, general surgeon at KDH, who is retiring at the end of this year. Loved and respected by his patients and peers, Dr. Cronen has proven himself to be a committed community member who is determined to make healthcare better. His humility, empathy, professionalism, honesty, and respect for patients and co-workers will truly be missed. ■ Learn more about KDH's School of Radiologic Technology, including how to apply, at www.kdhmadison.org.
