Dear Friends, With the passing of another year, we have an opportune time to reect on what we have accomplished. Longmont United Hospital's focus continues to be on providing the best possible care to our patients. In order to do this, we work closely with community leaders, healthcare providers and community organizations to provide the right care, at the right time, at the right price. To increase access to healthcare for those in the communities we serve, we have worked diligently to identify places where access is most limited and strive to ll the needs of those populations. In 2016, we opened three new facilities in Frederick, Firestone and Southwest Longmont to provide greater accessibility to primary, emergent and urgent care for our patients. These facilities enable us to provide preventive care to our patients and ultimately keep more patients out of the hospital by increasing access to lower settings of care. In addition to creating greater access to care by expanding our locations, we also broadened our scope of care by bringing on 18 new providers and developing four new specialties. We have added a new pediatrician to better serve our youngest patients. We also added endocrinology—an increasingly critical need in our community—to our array of services and revamped our Heart and Vascular program with a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Lab and two world-class cardiologists. We also recognize the importance of active communication surrounding each patient's health needs. It is extremely important that every person involved in a patient's care be on the same page and have the ability to communicate eectively. By implementing Epic, our new electronic health record system, we have been able to promote better communication between various healthcare providers as well as between the patient and his or her care team. While we continue to make strides to improve the health of the communities we serve, we know that this is not a battle we can ght alone. It is crucial that we work together to improve the economic, physical and emotional health of our community. This year we have invested crucial time in continuing to develop our community relationships. By working together and leveraging the strengths and abilities of everyone in our community toward the common goal of health, we can make a lasting impact on the people and communities we serve. Sincerely, Mitchell C. Carson President and CEO Longmont United Hospital WE KICKED OFF this campaign with the Festival on Main. This signature summer event featured all things local and was the perfect way to support our community. Since then, we have continued to seek out local organizations, businesses and events to partner with and support. In an effort to communicate the visions of our hospital and campaign, we invited a number of our local business and community leaders to a special farm-to-table dinner to promote locally grown food, health and wellness. This event was a great avenue for opening dialogue and fostering community relationships. As a result of these new and continued connections, we have sponsored a variety of worthy events, causes and organizations during the last few months. Some of the organizations we've recently sponsored and partnered with include the Longmont Humane Society, Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley, Healthy Learning Paths, Via Mobility, Imagine!, Latino Task Force, LiveWell Longmont and many others. Our goal of fostering a healthy community is not one we will accomplish overnight. We are committed to finding new and innovative ways to enhance the health of the communities we serve in every way. LUH hopes to be your first choice for all your healthcare needs. › To learn more about the "Longmont Loves Local" campaign and how you can get involved, please visit luhcares.org and click on the "Learn More" button next to the "Longmont Loves Local" logo.
