A Statewide Healthcare Movement Log In to Access Your Health Information DID YOU KNOW? Of the 2,213 U.S. hospitals participating in the 2015 HealthCare's Most Wired survey, 89 percent allow patients to access a patient portal using a mobileapplication. CHI Mercy Health joins the North Dakota Health Information Network (NDHIN) to better support physicians and patients. By establishing a network to connect North Dakota healthcare systems, the NDHIN acts as an electronic health record database. Providers with access to the network can now save critical time when analyzing a patient's health history, recent lab results, immunizations, and current medications by reviewing the information stored within NDHIN. "This portal creates a more ecient workow, allowing physicians to access background information so they can make more informed and cost-eective decisions about patient care," says Kelly Larson, RN, BSN, Clinical Informaticist, CHI Mercy Health and CHI Lisbon Health. "In a rural area, this setup is critically important because patients may have electronic health records at various health facilities within the state." Minutes matter, especially during an emergency. Moving information where it needs to be to save lives turns NDHIN into a safety net. CHI Mercy Health joined the NDHIN this November. Kelly travels back and forth from Lisbon to Valley City to ensure physicians can capture and le information into the network and pull critical information from it. Learn more about NDHIN by visiting www.nd.gov/itd/statewide-alliances/ndhin. Maybe you want to review your laboratory test results right away or check on the dosing instructions for your child's medication. With the CHI Mercy Health Patient Portal, you have access to these functions and more anytime, anywhere. Patient portals play a key role in connecting community members with their health information, physicians, and local hospitals. Our Patient Portal, for example, allows Barnes County residents to securely: access medical records and results of diagnostic laboratory and imaging tests review information about current medical conditions and medications view a summary of a recent Emergency Department visit or hospital discharge "When people are discharged from the hospital, they are provided with a lot of education and instruction," says Kelly Larson, RN, BSN, Clinical Informaticist at CHI Mercy Health and CHI Lisbon Health. "The nice thing about the Patient Portal is that people can review their discharge instructions anytime after their visit."
