Increasingly narrow networks and a higher chronicity patient population make the ability to improve access to safe and high quality care even more daunting. Luckily in Northeast Ohio, our physicians and hospitals have not only embraced this challenge, but have succeeded in overcoming it as well, as two stories in this issue highlight. University Hospitals (UH) Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospita l in Clevela nd pa r tnered with Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus in 2015 to form the Congenital Heart Collaborative (CHC). The initiative gives patients and their families direct access to one of the most extensive and experienced heart teams, skilled in the delivery of quality clinical services, novel therapies and a seamless continuum of care from the fetus to the senior citizen. Another success — Western Reserve Hospital's Lung Health Program. Physician leaders founded the program four years ago with the goal to provide early identification of lung cancer, and to provide tools and education to help patients stop habits that cause lung health problems. A multidisciplinary team of specialists have already worked with hundreds of participants to improve access to care services that save and improve lives. These are just two of what I'm sure are countless stories of Northeast Ohio physicians continuing to lead in the charge of improving access. I look forward to learning about more and sharing those with readers in the year to come. Ted Difiore
