JEWISH HOSPITAL was constructed in the 1950s with one goal in mind: Do everything it takes to provide surrounding communities with the best care possible. Today, Jewish Hospital continues to honor that goal by adopting the latest equipment and improving facilities. The most recent example is the $5.3 million renovation to the hospital's emergency department, made possible by the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's Foundation. "A renovation of this magnitude allows us to continue meeting the changing needs of our patients, physicians and staff," said Joe Gilene, president of Jewish Hospital. "We hope that for years to come patients will benefit from these improvements." As part of the project, the emergency department underwent significant improvements, some of which including: Additional patient rooms Expanded waiting room and registration area A two-room trauma bay Specialized emergency services Additional space for family privacy A safe room for patients experiencing psychiatric emergencies Want to learn more, STAT? We've undertaken some significant changes to enhance our ability to share with donors like you the work you make possible, and to raise philanthropic dollars that support our mission of providing hope, healing and wellness to all, including the underserved. Building awareness is critical to successful fundraising. With that in mind, we've launched a new electronic monthly newsletter to share stories of how donors in our community are impacting lives, as well as opportunities to volunteer and support the Foundations. We've also redesigned the websites to add more information on what the Foundations are doing in your communities. These are just a few examples of the changes we've undertaken to get us off to a great start in 2017. Please take time to read stories about our grateful patients, like Leigh Anne Wimsett, a breast cancer survivor who shared her courageous story at the recent Bourbon & Bluegrass Holiday Bash presented by Beam Suntory. All proceeds from the event benefit the upcoming expansion of the cancer center and addition of 3-D mammography at Flaget Memorial Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health. That's just one of the many examples of how your support is making a difference every day! Happy reading and Happy New Year! Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy 2017!
