Carol Dozier, CEO Dear Friends and Neighbors, HOSPITALS AFFECT THE health of their communities in many ways. At King's Daughters' Health, we bring life into the world, offer primary and specialty care for patients of all ages, educate people about good health, provide emergency services, and care for individuals in their homes. But we provide more than healthcare. By caring for patients, we strengthen the infrastructure of our community and impact its financial well-being. A report by the Indiana Hospital Association found that KDH directly or indirectly supports 1,400 local jobs and has a total economic impact of $171 million. A locally owned, not-for-profit hospital, KDH is the largest employer in Jefferson County. We help strengthen the local economy every time one of our employees makes a mortgage payment or spends money on food, clothing, rent or entertainment. We help create jobs when companies cite the presence of high-quality healthcare as a reason to do business in our area. This year, we hope to continue that economic support through plans to recruit new physicians and providers to KDH, sponsor events to enhance health education and serve as a clinical training site for educational institutions – all of which are good for our area's economy. In addition, we plan to evaluate new services to offer and focus on disease prevention and management. The essence of local healthcare is supporting the place we call home, and we at KDH hope we positively impact the well-being of our entire community every day.
