As a child, family nurse practitioner Pam Montplaisir, MSN, MMGT, APRN, FNP-C, liked to pretend she was a nurse caring for her dolls. Now, decades later, the Minneapolis-area native diagnoses and treats patients with a variety of acute and chronic conditions as a full-time provider at the CHI St. Francis Health Walk-in After Hours Clinic. Pam, who joined the clinic in January, has spent nearly 30 years working in health care, most recently in a congestive heart failure clinic at a health system in the Upper Midwest. When she began looking for her next career challenge, she knew she wanted to workat a walk-in clinic. "When I toured the CHI St. Francis Health Walk-in After Hours Clinic and met the sta, I knew I'd found somewhere that t my professional goals and personal beliefs," Pam says. "We make a dierence in the clinic by making it easier for working parents to get the care they need for themselves and their families. I believe medicine should strive to meet patients' physical, mental, social, andspiritual needs, and CHISt. Francis Health shares that belief." Wide-ranging Care Pam cares for minor acute illnesses and injuries, such as sprains andear infections, and manages chronic conditions, including diabetes and heart disease. She provides preventive and women's health services, preoperative exams, and sports physicals. Thanks, in part, to Pam's arrival, the CHI St. Francis Health Walk-in After Hours Clinic is now open weekends; see "Prescription for Convenience" for more information. "Health care is a partnership between me and my patients, and I encourage them to take an active role in their health," Pam says. "I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of this area." When you have an acute illness or injury and your physician's office is closed, help is available. Visit the CHI St. Francis Walk-in After Hours Clinic on the campus of CHI St. Francis Health. Prescription for Convenience In March, the CHI St. Francis Health Walk-in After Hours Clinic expanded its hours to serve patients seven days a week. The clinic is now open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, in addition to 4 to 9 p.m. on Monday through Friday. Weekend hours give busy families more options and the flexibility to receive the minor acute and chronic care they need. "Previously, there wasn't a clinic open on weekends in Breckenridge, Wahpeton, and the surrounding communities," says Ross Pederson, clinic manager at the Walk-in After Hours Clinic. "Patients had to drive an hour away to Fargo or Fergus Falls or go to the Emergency Room at CHI St. Francis Health, which isn't always the most appropriate place to get treatment for certain conditions. With the clinic's expanded hours, we're providing more access to quality health care for our communities." The Walk-in After Hours Clinic Welcomes a New Provider The newest member of the team at the CHI St. Francis Health Walk-in After Hours Clinic is living her childhood dream in a place that ts her perfectly. 2 Highway 75 North and 210 West
