CHI Friendship works hard every day to improve the lives of the people we support. However, we couldn't achieve this mission without our friends and neighbors. "Organizations like ours rely heavily on volunteers and the relationships we build with businesses throughout our communities," said Dori Leslie, Vice President of CHI Friendship. "We wouldn't be nearly as successful as we are today without their help." Our annual prom provides a prime example of how eager people are to give back to CHI Friendship. "To make this year's prom a little more special, we wanted to give attendees an opportunity to have their hair done," Leslie said. "All we had to do was call up the wonderful beauticians in our area and ask for help. They came right over to help make everyone look and feel their best." But it's not just our prom. All year long, the people we support benet from dedicated volunteers who have come to CHI Friendship to oer music therapy, put on concerts, and teach CHI Friendship salutes area beauticians who graciously donated their time and talents providing hair, makeup, and nail services to help our 2017 prom attendees look and feel extra special. CREATING STRONGER COMMUNITIES For CHI Friendship, community support is a two-way street. We visit local colleges to educate students about our organization, as well as the benets of working with people with disabilities, to ensure tomorrow's workforce appreciates their unique skill set. "CHI Friendship has embraced the community and helped them understand that the people we support want what everyone else wants," Leslie said. "We appreciate the employers in Fargo and Grafton who hire the people we serve and give them meaningful jobs. These employers see the benet of hiring people with disabilities, and our community as a whole has become much stronger and more inclusive as a result."
