Breast Care That Meets the Gold Standard At Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, we believe quality breast health starts with the basics of breast care. Our Breast Health Center, recently accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers as a comprehensive breast health center, can aid in your early-detection efforts. In order for women to be proactive in their breast health, the American Cancer Society highlights three key elements of early detection: • self-exams • clinical breast exams performed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant at least every three years for women in their 20s and 30s, and yearly after age 40 • annual mammograms beginning at age 40 At our Breast Health Center, women can come for their yearly mammography screening. We also provide breast ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We offer a full range of breast imaging, which sets our accredited program apart. The program not only focuses on the stringent imaging requirements, but also looks at the standards of care in breast biopsy options and pathology services. An important part of gaining national accreditation as a breast center is maintaining leading-edge techniques and technologies in the field of breast health care. With a full team of specialists able to weigh in on test results, our patients can feel confident that their early detection needs have been met. “Our full-field digital mammography equipment achieves the highest quality mammograms—this is essential in detecting early stages of breast cancer,” says Ali M. Gharagozloo, MD, board-certified radiologist and medical director of radiology at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. (continued on page 2) “Our mammography suite has recently been remodeled and upgraded to accommodate our new Breast Health Center services.” “There’s a saying in mammography that ‘early detection is the best detection,’ and thanks to patient proactivity and today’s mammogram technology, we can provide a great defense for detecting breast cancer early. In our private location, women can expect a comfortable screening experience.”—Debbie King, CRA, RT(R)(M), director of radiology at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Want more health and wellness information from Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center?
