White Plains Hospital is one of 400 Award recipients representing the hospitals that have met the highest standards for patient experi - ence in the U.S. by the Women's Choice Award. Women's Choice Award has also named White Plains Hospital as one of America's Best Hospitals for Cancer Care, one of America's Best Hospitals for Obstetrics and an America's Best Breast Center. On Sunday, April 23, 2017, alumni from the Fordham Chapter of Westchester County, including Children's Rehabilitation Center Trustee Marc Rosa and Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center Board Member Catherine Franzetti, and their friends, volun - teered their time and gardening handiwork to the Pediatric Center in celebration of Earth Day. A total of eight volunteers spent the afternoon cleaning the grounds of the Pediatric Center and planting pansies and lilies in front of the building and around its entr y way. MidHudson Regional Hospital has four full-time, board-certified trau- ma surgeons on staff, complemented by an elite group of neurologists, orthopedists, vascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiologists and additional specialists. The trauma program handled nearly 900 trauma activations in 2016, making MidHudson Regional Hospital one of the busi - est and most-experienced Level II trauma centers in New York state. The St. Elizabeth Seton Children's Foundation hosted its third annual Cherish the Child Luncheon honoring Larchmont resident Michele Caiola on May 4, 2017, at Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center in Yonkers, New York. The luncheon, attended by more than 160 guests, surpassed the Foundation's fundraising goal. The day began with a tour of the Pediatric Center and a VIP sneak peek at its new 32-bed, technology-dependent addition, which, when it opens in June 2017, will make the Pediatric Center the largest children's subacute care center in the country. Guests were introduced to our children and staff and learned what makes our programming unique and our care unparalleled. The proceeds from the day benefit two critical fundraising efforts with family at the heart of the matter: the Hummingbird Campaign, which is the Foundation's $6 million philanthropic effort in support of its expansion, and the Pediatric Center's Home to Home (parent and sibling transportation) program. Pat Tursi, CEO of the Pediatric Center, presented Caiola with the St. Elizabeth Seton Legacy Award, which is given annually to honor a person or a community organization that has made a significant contribution to the Foundation's Continuum of Care through their time, actions, talent and dedication. White Plains Hospital has been named one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience by the Women's Choice Award, America's trusted referral source for the best in health care. The Hospital is a repeat recipient of this honor, being recognized first in 2011. The methodology used to select White Plains Hospital as one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience is unique in that it evaluates specific Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) sur vey results along with primar y research about women's healthcare preferences. According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, good patient experience positively correlates to disease manage - ment, adherence to treatment plans and health outcomes.
