A Better Space for Caring
Things just keep getting better for staff and patients at Frankfort Regional Medical Center’s recently renovated Endoscopy Center.
“The Endoscopy Center renovations mean greater convenience and care for our patients,” says Angie Phillips, MSN, CGRN, Director of Outpatient Nursing Services for Frankfort Regional.
Utilizing the most advanced technology, the Endoscopy Center specializes in examinations of the digestive tract and lungs. Located on the fifth floor of Frankfort Regional, this self-contained, state-of-the-art unit features a dedicated registration area, two consultation areas, eight preoperative rooms, four procedure rooms and a five-bed recovery area.
Every Step of the Way
Attention to detail and optimum comfort makes the new family waiting room an inviting place for visitors. Television monitors update patient’s friends and loved ones on their status throughout the procedure.
“We’ve received numerous compliments and praise from family members who appreciate the changes we’ve made to the Endoscopy Center,” says Phillips. “It’s just another step we take toward providing better care and compassion.”
The Endoscopy Center welcomes the newest addition to its staff, John Shekleton, MD, board-certified gastroenterologist. Dr. Shekleton performs endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), which allows gallstones to be removed without the patient having major surgery.
“ERCP was not previously performed at our Endoscopy Center,” says Phillips. “Adding Dr. Shekleton’s expertise to our staff means patients can stay in our community to have this procedure.
We are excited to offer something new to our patients in addition to the improvements to the facility.”
