Someone to Lean On For people with diabetes, self-management is key to living with the disease effectively. To help community members live a healthier lifestyle with diabetes, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville offers a free Diabetes Support Group. Whether you’re living with diabetes or helping loved ones manage their symptoms, the Diabetes Support Group can provide knowledge and support. Attendees can gain additional education from diabetes educators and guest speakers, and they can also share personal experiences and learn from the successes of others coping with diabetes. The Diabetes Support Group is held the second Thursday of each month from 4:30–5:30 p.m. Call 254-965-1581 for details. Texas Women, Take Heart Heart disease continues to be the No. 1 killer of women older than age 20, according to the American Heart Association (AHA). Texas Health Resources is proud to once again partner with the AHA for the 2012 Go Red For Women campaign. Starting last July, Texas Health began hosting a variety of events aimed at educating women and inspiring healthy lifestyle choices for enhanced heart health. The events also give North Texas residents a chance to share their stories about how heart disease has changed their lives.
