TRENDINSIGHT consumer T his month's survey results reflect the opinions of 157 sports enthusiasts, consisting of men and women, ranging in age from 17 to 69 years old. What's clear from the responses is that these shoppers desire, and are willing to pay more for, activewear made with performance textiles. However, consumers expect a lot in return: long lasting wear is a top priority, but breathability, moisture management, wicking, odor-control and durability all rate as important. Also notable is the relevance of hang tags. When asked, "Would fabric information on the hang tag sway your decision to buy the garment?" 59 percent of respondents answered "yes." Meanwhile, 71 percent of those surveyed said they never use the QR codes for further information. Another surprising takeaway is that for all the talk of "comfort," performance remains the most influential factor in final decision making when purchasing active wear among this survey group.
