CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth
and St. Mary received their third national
Magnet®
designation on Tuesday, May 16.
Magnet status is recognition given by the American Nurses
Credentialing Center to hospitals that satisfy criteria that is
in place to measure the strength and quality of the nursing in
their‹facility.
Magnet hospitals have nurses who experience a high level of
job satisfaction, low staœ nurse turnover, appropriate grievance
resolution and nurses who achieve excellent patient outcomes.
"Magnet recognition really exemplifies the quality of nursing
care, as well as the overall quality of care, our hospital provides,"
says Paul Guidroz, chief nursing o›cer at CHRISTUS Southeast
Texas Health System. "Not many hospitals are getting third and
fourth designations. To receive this designation is an extreme
honor, and, to be honest, it takes a lot of work."
