AT THE SD WOMEN'S EXPO, ladies can take time to learn valuable health information, discuss issues that impact their lives and kick back for a little bit of "me" time. About 1,000 moms, sisters, daughters and best girlfriends are expected to attend this year's event, which will feature activities, information and relaxation opportunities from a variety of vendors. Highlights include: • DIY projects • health screenings • spa services • shopping An Event for All Ages New this year, the SD Women's Expo will host a Princess Party for little girls age 4 and older. Moms, grandmas and aunts may drop their little princesses off at the party when they arrive at the Expo and pick them up after the Princess Parade. The cost of a Princess Party ticket* is $15 and includes a craft, dancing, princess photos, lunch and a Princess Parade. Stories of Survival: Rise Above Also on this year's agenda are keynote presentations from individuals who have faced and overcome personal challenges. Huron Native Ted Stamp will share his inspiring story of overcoming a paralyzing spinal cord injury which turned him onto a surprising road less travelled. Karen refugee La MayPa Soe will recount her journey from her war-torn homeland to leading the Karen immigrants in making Huron their home. The survivors will share their stories in a panel format moderated by KSFY's Courtney Collen once in the morning and again in the afternoon. After the presentations, certified wellness coach Charlotte Henley will lead attendees in an activity to write their own stories by creating personal vision boards. for the South Dakota Women's Expo on Saturday, October 14.
