Dear Friends: Developing a vital, current and educated workforce that responds to the needs of business and industry in Montgomery County and the greater Philadelphia region is a primary role of Montgomery County Community College. For the past several months, a new team of professionals at the College has been building relationships with employers and business leaders in the region to create and enhance partnerships that are leading to innovative workforce development initiatives. These initiatives are helping to strengthen business and industry in the region and provide additional job opportunities for the residents of the County. In this issue of bigDreams, you will learn how our team in Workforce Development, led by Executive Director Jim Fox, is working strategically with the County's largest job market sectors – including manufacturing, healthcare, scientific/high-tech, and food service industries – to learn about their workforces, examine their needs, and anticipate how trends may impact shifts in future priorities. The message from business and industry in Montgomery County is clear; they need a partner who has the resources, facilities and expertise to nimbly respond to the ever- changing needs of a fast-paced, high-tech economy. As a two-year college with an emphasis on STEM, health sciences, workforce development, and a strong liberal arts base to develop critical thinking skills, Montgomery County Community College is uniquely positioned to respond to those needs. As we start this program, we want to establish partnerships with businesses, and I invite business and industry leaders to contact our Workforce Development team or me directly to discuss ways in which we can serve your workforce needs. Sincerely, Dr. Kevin Pollock President Join us on Twitter: @MCCC The College is governed by a 15-person Board of Trustees, the members of which are appointed to renewable six-year terms by the Montgomery County Commissioners.
