Every manner of textile has a seat at the table this season. Natural and man-made fibers, bio-based products and even wearables are now represented along with an array of blends, finishes and treatments. Cottons, linen, hemp and merino take a stand for S/S18 alongside polys, nylons and engineered materials that feel natural. Likewise new natural fiber offerings have the touch and look of slick synthetics. Sustainability remains a focus, with eco- attributes such as recycled, chemical-free and waterless important. However, sustainability, like product news in general, took a backseat at a unique OR where politics and trade show flux were front and center. This emerging platform of textile equality for active/outdoor is indicative of an industry keen on unity and community going forward. n KEY TAKE AWAY 2 trendinsightmag.com © 2017 Formula4media LLC.
