Mercy Medical Center-Centerville recently partnered with Midwest Medical Transport Company to provide Emergency Medical Services and interfacility transfers. Right Place at the Right Time Midwest Medical Transport Company maintains a close relationship with Centerville's rst responders and re department. The company oers free quarterly training to rst responders and helps them stay stocked with supplies. The company also works and trains daily to respond to re emergencies. MIDWEST MEDICAL TRANSPORT COMPANY has worked with other Mercy medical centers in the past. However, the partnership with Mercy Medical Center-Centerville marks the rst time the company has provided both emergency medical services and interfacility transfers for a community. "Mercy-Centerville provided excellent service, so we decided not to change anything," says Matt Travers, Business Development Director at Midwest Medical Transport Company. "The only thing that changed is the name on the side of the transports." Midwest Medical Transport Company uses the same sta, vehicles and equipment Mercy-Centerville was using prior to nalizing their partnership. REVAMPED RESOURCES While much has stayed the same during the transition, a few things have changed that will benet people in the Centerville area. For example, paramedics at Midwest Medical Transport Company receive extensive training mandated by the company. "All of our paramedics receive Critical Care Paramedic endorsement from the state of Iowa," says Je DeVoll, Midwest Medical Transport Company Station Manager in Centerville. "We train in Prehospital Trauma Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support as well." In addition, Midwest Medical Transport Company has access to a wide network of resources. If the Centerville station ever needs help, another Midwest Medical Transport Company station is located only 22miles away. New Name — Service When someone calls 911 in Centerville, the local police station answers. If the caller needs emergency medical transportation, the station contacts a member of Midwest Medical Transport Company using a two-way radio. This method of communication lowers response time. "For nonurgent interfacility transfers, we've asked nursing homes and facilities to work directly with the Midwest Medical Transport Company center in Omaha," Jeff says. "This takes some of the pressure off the police dispatchers." Patients being transferred between facilities might have special needs, such as requiring a bariatric cot or breathing equipment during their transport. "Midwest Medical Transport dispatchers have a list of questions to ask whenever a nursing facility calls," Jeff says. "This can help them determine which items or services the patient needs." Same Members of the Centerville Midwest Medical Transport Center staff include Trenton Bacus, Cheri Spurgeon (back), Katie DeVoll and Zack Musgrove.
