M D N E W S .C O M /// M D N E W S M I D H U D S O N ■ 2 017 1 3 Helen Hayes Hospital has appointed VictoriaˆLent, MD, to Director of Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation at the physical reha - bilitation hospital. Dr. Lent will manage the care of inpatients on the hospital's SCI unit and provide outpatient medical care to this patient population. Dr. Lent joins the hospital from Stanford University in Palo Alto, where she completed her fellowship in spinal cord injury medicine. She completed her internship and residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where she served as a chief resident. She received her undergraduate degree from Yale University and her medical degree from UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Lent is a member of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, the Association of Academic Physiatrists, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. She is the recipient of awards from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Northwell Health President and CEO MichaelˆJ. Dowling has been named to Modern Healthcare's 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare for the 11th consecutive year, under - scoring his standing as one of the industry's preeminent leaders. Dowling, who ranks No. 38 on the 2017 list, is the top-rated hospital executive in New York state, with a long history of service in health and human services — from his time oversee - ing health, education and human services in former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo's administration to his stewardship in leading Northwell's rise to becoming the state's largest health system. That transformation into an $11 billion organization with a culture of care and focus on innovation has helped drive the growth of the health system, which now has 22 hospitals and more than 550 outpatient facilities throughout the New York metropolitan area. Northern Dutchess Hospital recently appointed three registered nurse leaders to director positions to help advance healthcare services and enhance patient care. Linda Taylor oversees the ICU and medical-surgical floor for pa - tients who have medical issues or are recovering from surgery. Most recently, she was a patient care director at a NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Also, she was a nurse manager in the general surgery, neurosurgery and orthopedic units at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Taylor is relo - cating to Rhinebeck from New York City. Carol O'Driscoll, of Lewes, Delaware, is Director of Surgical Services. O'Driscoll has been a nurse since 1987 and spent the latter part of her career traveling the country as an interim surgical services and perioperative director. Recent positions she held were at Kaiser Permanente in Baldwin Park, California, and Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She is working on her master's degree in business administration at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Patricia Husted, of Rhinebeck, is Director of Case Management. This department helps patients transition from the hospital safely. Husted comes from HealthAlliance in Kingston, where she was the case management direc - tor since 2002. Prior to that, the registered nurse worked as a case manager in Seattle for 10 years. She holds a bachelor's degree in organizational leadership and communications from Marist College in Poughkeepsie. Karl Ziermann, DO, has joined Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County as a primary care sports medicine physician. Dr. Ziermann is board-certified in internal medicine and fellowship-trained in primary care sports medicine. He has studied exercise physiology and has a master's degree in clinical nutri - tion. He received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Ziermann then performed his internal medicine residency at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, New York. He completed a sports medicine fellowship at University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York, where he focused on high school, college and professional athletes.
