2 0 The Emergency Department nursing team and a veteran trauma surgeon at the Level II trauma center of MidHudson Regional Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), were recently recognized for extraordinary medi - cal excellence by the Dutchess County Emergency Medical Services (EMS)¬Council. The honors came two months after MidHudson Regional Hospital passed a rigorous, peer-review process by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), which verified the hospital's George T. Whalen Family Trauma Center with Level II status. This is significant as New York state now uses only the ACS verification program as its standard to desig - nate trauma centers. MidHudson Regional in Poughkeepsie was the first and remains the only hospital between New York City and Albany to earn ACS Level II designation and joins fellow WMCHealth members Westchester Medical Center (Level I adult) and Maria Fareri Children's Hospital (Level I pediatric) with ACS verification. Middletown Medical has been granted a three-year term of ac - creditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Echocardiography in the area of Adult Transthoracic. This latest accreditation awarded to Middletown Medical PC demonstrates the facility's ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care in echocardiography. Accreditation by the IAC means Middletown Medical PC has under - gone an intensive application and review process and is found to be in compliance with the published standards, demonstrating a commit - ment to quality patient care in echocardiography. Curry Automotive's Subaru dealerships and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Connecticut, Westchester and Hudson Valley selected NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital as a recipi - ent of Subaru's Love Promise campaign for the second year in a row. The nationwide campaign invited Subaru customers in June to write a "care card," a note of hope and inspiration, to be tucked in a package for cancer patients that includes a blanket. Blankets and cards were delivered to the lobby of NewYork- Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital's Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center and were given to patients receiving chemotherapy and radiation oncology in the center. The donation also included lunchboxes with crayons and craft items for children who ac - companied their loved ones. St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital (SLCH) has been named a 5-star recipient for Vaginal Delivery by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. This 5-star rating indicates the hospital's clinical outcomes are statistically signifi - cantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated. It is the third consecutive year SLCH has received the 5-star distinction in this category. The SLCH Birthing Center utilizes a family-centered model of care, communicating with members of a new mother's support network to ensure there is an understanding of how to care for both the mother and baby before they leave the hospital. The Elaine Kaplan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, located just steps from the Birthing Center, offers acute and chronic care for premature and ill full-term infants through - out the region and is the first Level II NICU in Orange County. ■ From left, Karen Erickson, Director, Pharmacy, and Interim Director, Oncology Services, NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital's Cheryl R.
