As the new President of Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital and Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital, Jay Anderson is enthusiastic about meeting the medical needs of DeKalb County. JAY AND HIS WIFE, Melissa, while newcomers to DeKalb County, have been residents of Illinois for many years. They chose to bring up their three children (Cameron, Conner, and Cate) in the area and even found time to raise a few horses on their small farm. "We're finding DeKalb County is a very special place," Anderson says. "The true sense of community permeates every discussion." THE PATH TO PRESIDENT Anderson moved to the Chicago area in 1997 after completing United States Naval service. Not long after, he found his way to Northwestern Medicine. "I've held a variety of roles within this health system during the 16 years that I've been here," Anderson says. "I'm very passionate about the vision of Northwestern Medicine to be an integrated, academic health system that delivers world-class care near where our patients live and work. That's an easy goal to get behind." On May 1, 2017, Anderson took on the role of president for two hospitals within the Northwestern Medicine Health System. Meet Jay Anderson Jay Anderson "I'm proud to work with such a wonderful medical staff in great facilities, while at the same time bringing more specialty programs to the area," Anderson says. " We are already connected to the Northwestern Medicine cancer program and the No. 7-rated in the nation cardiolog y and heart surger y programs." WHAT'S TO COME? Future plans will enhance care even further for residents of DeKalb County: • A new Health and Wellness Center. This 10,000-square-foot, $45 million facility will house several key clinical, educational and fitness programs that are designed to promote health outside the walls of the hospital. • A fully-integrated health system. Northwestern Medicine will combine health records across the health system so that patients and doctors can gain access to important medical information from anylocation. "Our community demands a high caliber of care, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to play a part in bringing it to them," says Anderson.
