Consult your physician before undertaking any form of medical treatment or adopting any exercise program or dietary guidelines. For new King's Daughters' Health nurse practitioner Tamalynn O'Daniel, APN, the best thing about her job is getting to practice the kind of interpersonal medicine she loves. "A kind, caring attitude is essential in medicine, and that's what I bring to every appointment." – Tamalynn O'Daniel, APN, nurse practitioner at the King's Daughters' Health Trimble County Medical Building Heartland AN EVANSVILLE, INDIANA, native and longtime resident of Louisville, Tamalynn realized as a teenager that she wanted to go into medicine, but her career journey didn't unfold exactly as she envisioned. "I had a wonderful high school teacher who piqued my interest in biology, chemistry and physics," Tamalynn says. "I wanted to become a physician, but I started a family at a young age, so I became a nurse instead and, later, a nurse practitioner." Tamalynn earned bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from Spalding University in Louisville. She has a post-master's certificate in gerontology and acute care from the University of Kentucky and is board-certified as a family nurse practitioner and an adult gerontology/acute care nurse practitioner. Building Relationships In late November, Tamalynn brought her 17 years of experience as a nurse practitioner in a variety of specialties – family practice, emergency medicine, hospitalist care, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and ear, nose and throat – to the Trimble County Medical Building in Milton, Kentucky. There, she joined family medicine physician Susan Maderic, MD, to care for acute and chronic health problems in patients of all ages. "I prefer practicing in a small-town setting because I like to spend a lot of time with my patients, and that's easier to do here," Tamalynn says. "So much of preventive medicine is about educating patients. I'm able to spend a lot of time doing that at the Trimble County Medical Building." ■ The Trimble County Medical Building is located at 10235 U.S. Highway 421 in Milton, Kentucky.
