Measures of Success Within CHI Friendship, we do a lot of things that measure the quality of our services. In addition to our internal efforts, we look to outside partners to help us identify strength areas and areas for improvement. Each year, as part of our licensing requirements, all seven CHI Friendship group homes participate in the Medicaid Certification Survey under Title XIX of the Social Security Act. Because we provide services in two different regions of the state, our surveys begin in the spring and continue through the fall. Health Facilities Surveyors arrive at each location to observe overall service quality and look over hundreds of federal regulations to determine if we are in compliance. "Title XIX" refers to the federal legislation for Medicare programs that outlines the regulations we follow as we provide services to the people we support. CHI Friendship has historically done well in our Medicaid surveys and accreditations. In our last survey for fiscal year 2017, we were cited for an average of just one deficiency per site for all seven sites combined. This is excellent, and it affirms our great success for services as well as the CHI Friendship mindset. Another quality measure that occurs every three years is a waiver survey. Waiver services include MSLA, ISLA, and Day Supports. The 2017 waiver survey was our first, and we had anticipated it for the past three years. The surveyor looked very closely at all the requirements in each of the domains. She focused on respect and dignity for people supported, staff orientation, training requirements, and HR oversight with an emphasis on background and nurse registry checks. She looked at our information with a fine-tooth comb— everything from MAR legends, signature pages, ISP data, staff training documents, med certification—every detail was important. It was evident that everything we do at CHI Friendship matters! As the surveyor started her exit survey, the first thing she commented on was our high quality of dignity and respect for the people we support. The people we support, our staff, and everyone she came in contact with were so respectful. She also complimented CHI Friendship on our attention to detail, the organization of our records, and the excellence we brought to the entire survey. She was impressed to say the least. This is just another example of the quality services that we provide within our waiver program. At CHI Friendship, we embrace the use of these quality indicators to involve the entire organization in reviewing, designing, and implementing processes that continuously improve quality outcomes for all. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone in the organization for their care and commitment to our mission of nurturing the healing ministry of Jesus. It is alive and thriving at CHI Friendship.
