In Celebration of Life and Love As her granddaughter's first birthday draws near, Nancy Benson reflects on the joy the new addition has brought to her life and her family. On February 20, 2017, Nancy Benson was delighted to welcome her new grandchild into the world, a baby girl named Addy. "I'm so happy when I'm with her. I just can't get enough," Nancy said. "I hope I can do my best being her grandmother and surrounding her with love." Nancy added that Addy has helped strengthen the bond between Nancy and her daughter, Kellie Newman, Addy's mom. "Having a granddaughter has made Kellie and me even closer," Nancy said. "I enjoy sharing parenting tips with my daughter, and we have fun being together." A BUNDLE OF JOY AND INSPIRATION Nancy said that Addy inspires her to work hard at her jobs cleaning a restaurant and delivering medication to individuals who have trouble traveling to the pharmacy. "I keep track of what I earn and what I can spend by making notes in my checkbook, which helps me budget," Nancy said. "I always try to save money to buy Addy nice and useful things." When she's not busy working, Nancy, who is 48 years old, also enjoys spending time with and learning grand-parenting tips from her parents, Carol and Arthur Benson. "Mom and dad give me so much support," Nancy said. "When I have something on my mind that is worrying me, I can call my mom and she will talk me through the situation, which is such a comfort." FAMILY AT FRIENDSHIP Nancy's team at CHI Friendship had the opportunity to meet Addy during a recent family visit to the residence in Grafton. "Everyone had so much fun spending time with Nancy's entire family," said Christina Potts, Qualified Developmental Disabilities Professional with CHI Friendship.
