For example, it helps your body remove waste products, is necessary for proper circulation and keeps your digestive tract moving, thus preventing and easing constipation. The most obvious symptom of dehydration is thirst. If you feel thirsty, though, chances are you're already mildly dehydrated. You may experience a variety of symptoms, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Look for these signs of dehydration. One common cause of dehydration is illness. You're more likely to get dehydrated, for example, when you're running a fever or if you have frequent vomiting and diarrhea due to food poisoning or a viral infection. You're also at risk of becoming dehydrated during vigorous exercise and outdoor activities, especially if it's hot outside. No matter the temperature or your activity level, however, you can get dehydrated if you're not drinking enough fluids.
