Greetings, physicians and healthcare leaders, and wel- come to the latest issue of MD News Greater Kansas. I am proud to announce that we are entering the 10th year of MD News Greater Kansas, and in honor of that milestone, our next issue (April/May) will be a Special Edition in which we sit down with physicians, CEOs and other influential members of the healthcare community to discuss the advancements, changes, and public-health challenges that have had the biggest impact on the industry over the past ten years. We will also take the opportunity to look ahead — both at issues such as the aging population and the opioid epidemic as well as the opportunities physicians have to improve their practices and their communities. In the spirit of progress, for this issue we have profiled two practices that have taken advantage of technological breakthroughs. Our cover story focuses on Via Christi Health's CyberKnife Center, where board-certified radiation oncologists David Bryant, MD, and Jon C. Anders, MD, have more than 20 years' combined experience using a computer-guided system that can painlessly destroy tumors anywhere in the body, without damaging healthy tissue. And in a special feature about the retina specialists at Grene Vision Group, David M. Chacko, MD, PhD, boasts that through advancements in the treatments they can o™er, the rate at which they are able to save the sight of patients with wet macular degeneration has risen from 1 percent to 50 percent over the past two decades. MD News Greater Kansas will be sharing stories like this all year long. Contact me at 620-249-7462 or jnorris@mdnews.com to discuss how we can help share news about your practice across multiple platforms.
