However, we think about those things every day to help ensure you receive the safest, highest-quality care. Under the leadership of Natalie Thornsberry, RN, Director of Quality at King's Daughters' Health, we've undertaken a number of initiatives to optimize patient safety. For example, we recently partnered with the Indiana Hospital Association on a staff-education program related to proper hand-washing to reduce the spread of hospital-acquired infections, the importance of patient mobility after procedures to avoid complications, and how to address the pressing issue of opioid use. We also have an ongoing campaign to minimize unnecessary use of antibiotics to help control the nationwide problem of antibiotic resistance. A number of national organizations have recognized our efforts. For three consecutive twice-yearly grading periods, KDH has received A grades from The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization that scores hospitals based on their ability to prevent medical errors and keep patients safe. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services also recently awarded us four out of five stars for exemplary care and dedication to quality measures. Meeting these national safety benchmarks and staying engaged in education throughout the year are two main ways we show patients we care about their wellness in every season of life. Wishing you wellness, Carol Dozier President and CEO of King's Daughters' Health
